- Alien Brain - http://www.nxn-software.com/ expensive asset-management software/production management package. Up until now only really used extensively by the games industry, but they are now targeting the visual effects community with their package Alien-Brain VFX. They are currently working with Pixar: http://www.nxn-software.com/2665.htm
Open Source
- http://www.cvshome.org/ - Great for scripts, there are several companys (e.g. PDI) that have their versioning scheme built on top of RCS/CVS or something very similar. Its terrible for pictures/binary data and image sequences.
- http://photoseek.sourceforge.net/ interesting asset managements solution, good for still photo management.
