Render Queue Systems
Commerical
- LSF http://www.platform.com/ - Used by many companys including The Mill, PDI and disney. Does dynamic load balancing and lots of good things, although I believe quite a bit of work is still required to customize it for a render farm. - SamR
- Alfred - http://www.pixar.com/renderman/artst_tools/tools/alfred.html - Fairly simple but powerful render dispatcher. Uses TCL has a render-batch command interface, which gives a lot of flexability (such as dependancys between frames or layers). Also has nice intergration with renderman (surprise surprise). - SamR
- Rush - Render Queue - http://www.3dsite.com/people/erco/rush/ - from Greg Ercolani, the person that wrote DD's race, which is well thought of. - SamR (also the person who wrote Disney's BBQ which was replaced by LSF circa 1999)
Open Source
- Tom Galvin mentioned this OSS renderfarm on the list: http://sourceforge.net/projects/impfarm/
- Ahmaud R. Templeton has used http://www.project-borg.org and knows the developers.
