I am putting together a video editing system for a non-techie. That said I know nothing about video editing, (beauty of a combination no?). I took a look at the links above and the cinelerra looks a bit heavy, (a rendering farm? My client will have a cow) and the kino one seems a little deficent compared to the cinelerra. My client is attenmpting to edit a feature length documentary, (low to no budget of course), and we barely have the budget for 1 decent machine. That said would y'all recommend one package over the other, (X will be slow but can't live without the features, go with Y because you won't be doing any CGI)?

Thanks for any input you can give me.

I spent 6 months getting the full platform to work on my higher end linux box, cinelerra is the way to go Kino is only very basic. With PC's so cheap these days, go for a decent box! I put a full record of my set-up on http://gratefulfrog.net.

Hope this helps - sorry it comes so late. - GF
